Royston Runners have celebrated a major achievement following their outstanding performance at the Midweek League race held on Thursday evening at Royston. The club’s impressive results secured promotion to Division One, a well-deserved reward reflecting the dedication and strength of the team throughout the season.
The highlight of the evening was the women’s team finishing top of the league, demonstrating exceptional depth and consistency across the board. They scored 28 out of 28 points across the events meaning they won every race!
Meanwhile, the men’s team also put in a strong showing, finishing a commendable third overall. This combined success propelled Royston Runners to the top tier of the Midweek League.
The race, hosted on Royston’s home course, attracted a vibrant crowd of club members and visiting runners from across the region. The familiar surroundings and enthusiastic support helped fuel some memorable performances contributing valuable points towards the club’s league standing.
The Midweek League’s scoring system rewards clubs based on the finishing positions of their top men and women runners, and Royston’s balanced strength in both squads was key to their promotion.
