Birthday Run & Cake Auction

Date

November 2023 (date TBC)

Where

At the Heath – the run will take place on the traditional 10K birthday route and the cake auction will be held in the café afterwards.

What is it?

The Birthday run is an evening 10k run around the town in groups to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the club. The run is followed by a cake auction to raise money for our charity of the year, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

The Birthday Run

The Birthday Run follows an organised 10K route around Royston. You can find the route online here https://www.plotaroute.com/mobile/route/956230?units=km#.Xa9Z0u3OoD8.messenger

All runners meet at the Heath at a given time based on how long it will take to complete the route. This is so we can all finish at a similar time and start the cake auction with everyone ready at around 8pm. We would hope the first groups will start leaving the Heath at around 6.15pm.

We are hoping to also offer a 5k option in the evening, but this is dependent on finding someone happy to lead a 5k group.

You don’t have to take part in the run to attend the cake auction, but we would encourage you to do so where possible as it really is a fun event.

  • If you are interested/ happy to lead a group please do get in touch, indicating your 10k pace.
  • If you are interested/ happy to lead a 5k group again please do get in touch social(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)roystonrunners.co.uk

The Birthday Run will take the place of the normal Tuesday night club run. If you can’t attend the Cake auction, you can still come along to the Birthday run, but again we would encourage you to bring a cake so we can raise as much money for charity as possible!

We will be in touch nearer the time with the confirmed groups and start times.

The Cake Auction

We ask club members to bring along cake(s) and drop them off at the Heath café before the run. You don’t have to be Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood as shop bought cakes are absolutely fine. All we ask is that you bring a cake if possible so we can raise as much money as possible for our club charity.

After the run, the Cake auction will start at 8pm. This will hopefully give everyone time to get refreshments from the bar, ready to start spending your cash for the lovely cakes that we hope you will be bringing along – running and cake, what’s not to like!!! If you can’t make the Birthday run you can still come along to the cake auction. If you don’t have a cake that’s also fine, but we do encourage you to bid on one!

Any surplus cake will be donated to the Royston Foodbank and Richard Cox House and all monies raised from the auction will be donated to our nominated chosen charity.
