Long Short Relay – Sunday 11th October
What is the The Long Short Relay ?
It is an internal club event held every year and originated in memory of Clive Long (Vince’s Dad) who was a long standing member of the club.
It is held across a course that starts and finishes at the Heath and takes in country lanes and some off road stretches around the villages to the south and east of Royston. It has 5 stages of distances between 4.5 and 10 miles approx and is run in teams of 5 either male. female or mixed with trophies awarded for each winning team.
It caters for all abilities with the teams setting off at different times depending on their expected pace, the idea being all teams finish close to each other.
How do I enter?
Simply email Maurice Hill on mauricehill1945(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)gmail.com or put your name on the notice board at the Heath. If you have a team in mind then let Maurice know but don’t worry if you haven’t as he will organise the teams and discuss with you what stage you would prefer to run.
How much does it cost to enter?
The entry fee is £10 per person with all the proceeds going to the clubs charity of the year for next year (decided in the next few weeks)
If you want to know anymore information just drop Maurice an email or grab him on one of the club runs next week.
It is a great event. Please consider giving it a go if you haven’t done it before. If you have done it before then spread the word!
